President Yoon Seok-yeol held an informal meeting with Prime Minister António Costa of Portugal on July 11 on the occasion of his attendance at the NATO Summit. They discussed ways to enhance substantial cooperation, international trends, and the overall situation.

Prime Minister Costa expressed his gratitude for the warm reception during his visit to Korea in April, stating that the friendly cooperative relationship between the two countries has further strengthened as a result of his visit.

In particular, Prime Minister Costa expressed his desire for Portugal to collaborate closely with Korean semiconductor companies and join forces in the value chain of the global supply network. President Yoon stated that he will support smooth cooperation between companies of both countries and expressed his hopes for enhanced substantial cooperation in various areas, including digital, development cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges.

President Yoon emphasized the need for a united international response to the escalating nuclear and missile threats from North Korea. Prime Minister Costa reaffirmed his support for the South Korean government's policy towards North Korea.

Both leaders agreed on the importance of international solidarity in response to the Ukraine conflict and emphasized the need for continued cooperation to achieve peace and restoration of normalcy in Ukraine.

Furthermore, President Yoon explained the vision of the 2030 Busan World Expo, which aims to be a solution platform for global challenges, and requested support from the Portuguese government.
