World Peace Art Exhibition has been on a break for three year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Chairman Lee Jon-Young of the World Peace Art Exhibition Organizing Committee said that the 26th World Peace Art Exhibition will be held from August 23 to August 28 at the Maru Art Center in Insadong.

During the 25 years of the World Peace Art Exhibition, Chairman Lee has been trying to develop high-quality art culture in Korean by discovering talented new artists.

The World Peace Art Exhibition helps artists have a high self-esteem, profound artistic inspirations, courage, and made it a competition involving more than 50 countries so that high-quality culture sublimated into art can become a venue for abundance, prosperity, and peace.

It had only been exhibiting on the Internet for about three years due to COVID-19. However, from now it plans to freely continue the exhibition at the Maru Art Center.

Even in the difficult situations, the World Peace Art Exhibition has contributed to the promotion of international cultural exchanges and development of culture and arts, and has played a leading role in discovering and awarding excellent cultural artists and moving toward an era of co-prosperity and harmony.

Some people say that the event is being held with the support of the government, but Chairman Lee said that he has never held it with any governmental support.

In order to introduce the Korean art and culture to the other countries, the organization exhibited Korean art culture with foreign artists every year and received great response from diplomats in Korea. From 2003 to 2022, about 1,200 works were also donated overseas.

"The World Peace Art Exhibition has donated art works to organizations such as anti-drug funds and relief funds in the United States, and there are already inquiries from overseas for exhibition requests," said Chairman Lee.

The World Peace Art Exhibition Organizing Committee plans to contribute to the national development as it is an art exhibition on the theme of peace and the desire on the part of the cultural artists for peaceful unification of the Korean peninsula by fostering great talents and building a "cultural power" through international exchanges.

Starting this year, it is known that the organization will continue to make efforts to give a shot to the stagnant art industry in Korea and peaceful unification through the World Peace Art Exhibition with cultural and artistic figures who spread Korea's culture and art in line with the Era of Globalization.
The organizing committee holds a competition every year to invite foreigners to the awarding ceremony and work exhibition hall, and diplomats and their children in Korea have visited the exhibition hall to encourage and exchange works.

The organization has been promoting foreign artists' participation through diplomats in Korea such as congratulatory speeches by UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan and events with Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger of California, to make the competition a great art competition.

The application for 2023 the World Peace Art Exhibition will be held from August 23 to August 28. The winners will be awarded a number of citations and prizes, including the National Assembly Speaker Award and awards presented by the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly and the Minister of Culture, Sports & Tourism.
