영문 외교차관보, 신임 주한이란대사 면담…“우호협력 관계를 회복·발전 노력“
외교저널 (Diplomacy Journal) 김지은 기자 | 최영삼 외교부 차관보가 7일 사이드 쿠제치 신임 주한이란대사를 만나 양국 관계 증진을 위해 기여해 줄 것을 당부했다고 외교부가 밝혔다. 외교부에 따르면 최 차관보는 “현재 양국 간에 여러 현안이 있으나 1962년 수교 이래 60년 이상 교류해 온 양국이 우호협력 관계를 회복·발전시켜갈 수 있도록 함께 노력한ㆍ 것을 기대한다”고 말했다. 쿠제치 대사도 “주한대사로 부임해 기쁘게 생각한다”며 “여러 분야에서 큰 협력 잠재성을 가진 한-이란 관계 회복과 발전을 위해 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

영문 외교부 "한국 세 번째 유엔 안보리 비상임이사국 선출"
외교저널 (Diplomacy Journal) 김지은 기자 | 외교부는 우리나라가 유엔 안전보장이사회(안보리) 비상임이사국 선출에 대해 "정부는 유엔헌장이 규정하고 있는 보편적 가치와 국제규범에 기반한 국제질서를 수호하는 책임 있는 국가로서 역할을 강화해 나가고자 안보리 비상임이사국 진출을 추진해 왔다"고 밝혔다. 외교부는 7일 입장문을 통해 "전날(6일) 서울시간 밤 11시 뉴욕 유엔 본부에서 실시된 유엔 안전보장이사회(안보리) 이사국 선거에서 알제리, 시에라리온, 슬로베니아, 가이아나와 함께 2024-25년 임기 비상임이사국으로 선출되었다"고 전했다. 이는 1996-97년, 2013-14년 임기의 비상임이사국 선출에 이어 세 번째 진출이다. 이날 투표에는 193개 유엔 회원국 중 192개국이 참여했으며, 아시아태평양그룹에서 단독으로 입후보한 우리나라는 총 유효투표 192표 중 180표의 지지를 얻어 아태그룹 소속의 이사국으로 당선되었다. 안보리 이사국 당선을 위해서는 유엔 회원국 193개국 중 출석하여 투표한 국가의 2/3 이상의 지지가 필요하다. 안보리는 국제평화 및 안전유지에 대한 일차적인 책임을 가진 기관으로, 전 세계의 무력분쟁을 포함하여 국제평화안
